这类讲文学作品起源题材的纪录片我看得比较少，尤其是男主人公们是我不太能接受的的一个别类——诗人。本片讲述了恐怖小说领域的两大支柱——科学怪人和吸血鬼——是如何诞生的，一切都源自于日内瓦一个月黑风高、电闪雷鸣的夜晚。诗人拜伦和他的迷妹、迷妹的姐姐姐夫（诗人雪莱和妻子玛丽雪莱），以及拜伦的私人医生波里道里一行5人在别墅中讲鬼故事，拜伦提议来个比赛，看看谁能写出最吓人的恐怖故事。尽管这5个人之间私生活怪异，但玛丽雪莱和波里道里还真写出了后来风靡全球的两部恐怖小说。尤其觉得讽刺的是，波里道里一直活在拜伦才华的阴影下，被他瞧不起，他在写英国贵族吸血鬼时将拜伦本人作为了吸血鬼的原型，好绝啊！
